Camaro Driver killed on 110N
Motorist Killed In Shooting On 110 Freeway
Shooting Marks Second In Two Weeks On Harbor Freeway
POSTED: 3:14 pm PDT April 13, 2005
UPDATED: 6:06 pm PDT April 13, 2005
LOS ANGELES -- Police are investigating the second fatal shooting on the 110 Freeway in a two-week period.
Authorities closed part of the 110 Freeway north to search for evidence near Redondo Beach Boulevard after shots were fired at two men traveling in a white Pontiac Grand Prix. The men, who were traveling from the Wilimington area to a Bible study class, were transported to a nearby hospital after their car crashed into a wall on the shoulder of the road, police said.
Police said the driver was killed.
The shooting occurred at about 2 p.m.
Police said the driver was shot "several times." The passenger's injuries resulted from the crash, according to police. He is expected to survive.
Police said shots were fired from a vehicle described as a "blue sports model." Police said five to eight rounds were fired into the victims' vehicle before it crashed into the wall.
A private ambulance provided aid and summoned a city ambulance. The victim was shot in the head and torso.
Police said there were no indications of an argument preceding the shooting and crash. Authorities said they do not believe the victims, both in their 30s, were involved in gang activity.
Police said they were able to speak briefly with the passenger.
"The only thing that caught his attention was loud crashing -- one of the windows," said Det. Sal LaBarbera. "There was nothing to indicate an argument or anything that precipitated the shooting."
The shooting marks the second vehicle-to-vehicle shooting in a two-week period. On March 29, a 20-year-old Long Beach man was shot and killed while driving on the 110 Freeway.
Michael Livingston was shot in the head. His Camaro crashed into the center divider near Manchester Avenue at about 2 p.m.
Investigators said they plan to examine ballistics evidence to determine whether the shootings are linked.
The 110 Freeway was shut down for about one hour near Redondo Beach Boulevard. Three lanes reopened at about 4:30 p.m.

Someone ever shows a gun on me I'll friggin t-bone them and go for pinning them into the car and killing them or putting them off the side of the road- I'll take my chances later with a jury. As for the car- its insured and is just a car. My life is my life.

Regardless of what happens, Just brace and be reading to jump out an overcome the guy before he recovers because you are now disabled and if hes not hurt- he's got the gun and you can't outrun a bullet. If you aren't quick or can't fight, I would not suggest this
