Attention Burnout Bill!

I have it from witnesses at the track that your positraction is not working. Your right rear was not working correctly during your burnout. Allen

Re: Attention Burnout Bill!

Really? On the first burnout it tried to make a right turn coming out of the water, which would mean the left tire was 'driving', right? Who noticed? The car seemed to hook well off of the line, not that I'm doubting anyone.

Thanks for the info....OK, a New Eaton posi, & a New Yank converter, plus install $$....it's a good thing I like my job and love spending extra hours there (plus I love the smell of turbine exhaust).

Bill

A couple of pro racers observing Pat's car and you were next up and they watched your car. At the very least get it looked into. Allen

Re: Attention Burnout Bill!

Did burnout test today, water puddle and all, left TWO stripes, 50' first time, 75' second time, both stripes of equal length, with no 'blank' spots. Not sure what the people at the track saw, but I saw signs of a healthy posi...???? I do need to deflate the tires more, according to the stripe widths.

Re: Attention Burnout Bill!

I DO appreciate the input; I'll take all of the help I can get. Yank SS4000 is being made as we speak! BTW, my car won't even rotate the tires (with dry DR's) from a dead-stop full throttle now. With 6 year old street tires..tach heads for 6500 in second gear while I try to keep it between the stripes. Good fun man, good fun. Now to work on that elusive E.T. thing....and why do I trap 105, at best???? Maybe stamp collecting is more than it's cracked up to be....maybe Bingo night? LOL!!

Re: Attention Burnout Bill!

Bill, you have taken a giant step in the right direction. Looking at your time slip when you raced me your 60' was 1.925. That is way to high. I think your car has the potential to get into the 1.6-1.7 range The converter should help that to. The converter will put your motor right in the power band sweet spot. It will raise the rpm at launch and with the added horsepower available with the higher rpm it will help the 60' as well as the 1/4 mile.

Seriously you might gain .8 tenths just from the converter alone. It will be like a different car. It will be looser at first but after a day or so you will get used to it. By the way I have my lock-up set at 45mph. However as soon as you nail it the converter unlocks and off you go.

Re: Attention Burnout Bill!

Thanks for the encouragement, Allen.....the bar keeps gettng higher and higher, but the Thirdgen's seem to keep answering the call (at least your's, anyway!) And many others are right there knocking on the door of low 12's /high 11's.

Ya know, I really think the Firebird / TA's have an aerodynamic advantage, because of the retracted headlights. Thoughts, anyone?

"the Firebird / TA's have an aerodynamic advantage"

Yes they do. I don't know how much it would effect the 1/4 mile but some.

Absolutely. I got proof while proving that to a Camaro with a Firebird many years ago. Lights up, we were equal. Put my lights down, walked away. And then I got a present from someone with some pretty blue and red lights.
