whats the best tire size to get with my 15 inch rims...

Stock now it has 215 65 R15's. I wanna go as wide as possible but keeping it from rubbing. I also want a lower profile tire cause im gonna lower the ride after a while. What should i get? I was looking at Goodyear American Eagles...they were 215 60 R15. They look pretty good...shorter than the stock ones but didnt seem at all wider...price was about $78 a tire. I think they were Z rated. Whatever rating 115 mph is.

Thanks guys...

ok..just did a quick search....seems like P235 60 R15's are the route to go. Almost no speedo errors...there wider, more of a low profile. Im i right about this stuff? And i think it was said that it wouldnt rub my fenderwells. Thanks again.

235/60r15 were optional tires offered by GM.

When I get new tires for my stock 15x7 Z28/RS wheels I'm getting the 235/60-15s. They were an upgrade on our cars, so they should fit without any problems. The best tires I've found in that size are Yokohama Avid S/T I think it is.... I just don't dig the stupid white lettering, but the Avid S/T is whie outlined, so it's not as bad...

I have 235/60/15s Goodyear Eagles on my 83TA with no problems - they are almost identical size to the 216/60s - like .1 inch larger or something.

Not the best tyre I know but I've noticed that the Eagles tend to look wider than other tyres I've purchased that were supposed to be the same size.

I read somwhere that you should'nt go larger than the 235s on 7 inch rims because after that the sidewalls start to bulge too much and therefore become less rigid.

I have 275/60/15 on the rear and 235/60/15 on the front. They seem to fit without any problems.

I have 255/60 15s in the rear and 225/50 15s upfront. I like the way the 50s handle but they look "odd" on my 85 camaro because its the stock height and there is some space in the front above the tire.

Later I am going 245/50 in the front and 295/60 in the rear. T/As all round.

235/60's are probably the best you can get on 15x7's. I ran through 2 sets of 245/60R15's back when I had 15x7's. They rubbed pretty good when I turned hard. The extra height from the 245/60's hurt cornering.

Ok...ive decided on the 235 60/15's for my car. There BF Goodwrench Excentra GT's. They look pretty good. Theve got a 50,000 mile wrrty i believe, so thats good. But the guy told me that these will be wider and sit a little shorter that my stockers. So i guess thats good. They were only like 366.60 for the set....so thatll be good untill i can get ahold of some nice 17's.
