Goodyear is the new 16" badass

Goodyear's Eagle F1 GS-D3 is giving the Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP's a run for their money in the reveiws so far.
Possible honors for the best 16" tire availible in performance standards including incredible wear ratings w/ soft compound.

Edit: I put a Falkin tire on Pops 635M BMW a few months back that is a very close relative in tread design and has performed great- this car has been on Willow Springs road course even with them.

I drive my Geo Metro which is my second love.... i drive her very hard.... punching the throttle in and out of turns.... with gas prices so high i dont have to worry about it so i spend it on my tires...i believe my car is in great condition....let me tell you guys a few things about my car... i have entered many import and domestic car shows..i came close but i never won for that reason i do not know....i believe these tires can be improved a tad bit...my geo Metro is vortec supercharged with intake, headers, and exhaust....I take it on the drag strip and i haul *** running 19.36 seconds 1/4 mile which is very good for all you race savvy people...when it is slick outside after it had just rained when i floor it for some reason the tires do not want to stick the tires continue to spin and spin...i am thinking of adding a NX nitrous system to my car....which will probably drop me down to 18 seconds... i really love this car.... and i want the best for my car and these tires to me are not unfortunately... I'm not talking these type of reveiws- I'm talking track testing reveiws/ professioal comparison tests. Yes the review from this clown is comical

Edit: I read on the internet somewhere on a timetrail test an outfit did with these new goodyears in comparison to a few other existing street performance tires(one being the SZ50EP) I can't find that again, don't know what website I was on- I wrote the tire info down an then went to Tirerack to checkout its pricing and looks. Thats why I posted the Tirerack link- for the picture of them, Not their customer reveiws. I like tested track times for comparison.

Goodyear vs Firestone, now that would have been a good comparsion fifty years ago. Two tire companies left in the Past with no Future.

You need to check your facts again- They happen to be the top two manufactures of 16" tires.

Pics of my tire shop in my garage
FireHawk RFTs SZ50EP's for one of the Vettes & the "new" Goodyear F1 GS-D3's for the Camaro- (Maybe I can hit the 1.1 g mark with these )

Update on tires; They have been on now for just over a week- long enough for me seek out and hit most of my favorite corners. These tire are worth every penny.

I have one secetion of road that I hit a long right sweeper (80mph) into a hard braking 20mph 120* lefthander the transitions into a imediate 90*right hander about 30 to 35mph. I know this car and section of road very well ( eye's closed well) and with these new tires I can no longer keep my *** centered in the seat through the two tight corners. grip is extrodinary- For a street tire, it has grip like an autocross tire. I will be trying an autocross run very soon with it- so I'll update how much it will fade under hot temps.

Edit:I should note that the tires I just replaced were Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP's. These goodyear have them beat. The SZ50's were great, these are extrodinary.

Yes, sounds like a great tire. Too bad you will be replacing them after about ten thousand miles.

I don't worry about frikin gas milage or tire duration- if you worry about that stuff, go buy a geo metro. I do all out performance driving.

Too bad a 2001 Geo Metro doesn't even exist.

They look like great tires but unfortunately I couldn't really afford these tires on my IROC. I opted for the all-season BF KDWS. Price was a major factor in my decision and the fact that the KDWS are snow rated made my final decision. I think if I had some extra money laying around I'd go for these tires for weekend racing at the track. But for street use I'm not sure if they're entirely necessary for my type of street driving.

Update: Now that I've driven on these for a few weeks and today I really put them through their paces, My conclusions are that they do have better braking traction and lateral grip than the Firehawk SZ50EP's. However, the Goodyears' side to side trasition characteristics are more loose or unstable feeling. So once in the corner they are fine but transitioning from left to right to left they do sway- sidewalls are not stiff enough.

Even though the Goodyears grip better- I think my next choice will be to go back to the Firestones because they are much more predictable and stable in the handling department.

My Firestones kicked *** on wet roads.

Now I'm running BF Goodrich Comp T/A Drag Radials, these tires are absolutely incredible, but they are really running low on tread already after 5,000 miles of street driving & no strip passes. Mind you every night I have her out I rip from from a set of lights once or twice Only um...3 occassions have I smoked them up.

Oh well, these tires are worth every single penny to me
