QUICK!!! 91 z28 and 87 iroc-z suspensions
hey, i was thinking about buying either a 91 z28 or an 87 iroc-z (also thinking about a 96 z28, 6spd, gasp!)
but my question is..
is there a difference in the suspensions from the iroc-z's and the 91-92 z28's?
i know there definately was between z28s (85-87) and the iroc
but i wanted to know if they used the same suspension on the 91-92 z28's as the iroc's.
it just seems to make sense they used the same suspension but...
thanks in advance
also, it's great to be back to the boards, haven't been here for a year or 2

They "re-absorbed" all of the IROC options back into the Z28 RPO when they lost the contrract to use the IROC name in 90.... so I think you'l find that the later Z28s have about the same stuff as the prior years of IROCs.
Of course, it could be argued that they used the same "suspension" on all of these cars, the only thing they changed was spring options and sway bars, from 6-cyl cars to 1LEs. About the only difference was that they used slightly less gooshy rubber bushings on the 1LE cars.
There are a few "chassis" differences; specifically the "wonderbar" that IROCs and late Z28s got. No Pontiacs at all got those that I know of.
But, all of these cars are 12 and 15 and 20 years old now, so the springs and such are completely worn out anyway. It's pointless to talk about what the factory put there, because anybody that actually gives a rip about any of that, is going to throw away all that worn-out OE stuff and put something that actually still works in there anyway. You can make a cheapo 6-cyl cart out-handle what a new 1LE car did, just by the correct choice of parts.

should be the same so long as the rpo engine codes are the same and your not comparing 1-le to z or 350 to 305.
alot of other revisions though in 91-92's that make them more sought after. suspension wise though they are very close. might be missing a wonder bar on the 91 but that's about it.
