Say I have an unlimited budget for suspension...
Is it possible for me to outhandle the new vettes? I am interested in either modding my current 3rd gen totally or getting a 2003 or 04 vette (not the 05, yet I want to outhandle one)
Just curious, and if you have time please post the mods that would make this happen

i doubt u could a 05 vette....cuz i read somewhere that the new 05 vette has a weight distribution thats almost 50/50....and i highly doubt are cars do....so that would be tough to match....but then again im not a suspension wiz either lol...

Car: too many ...
If you had an unlimited budget and the vette was stock then I say yes it could be done. IMO the overall engineering of the C5/C6 is superior, but when you start talking aftermarket versus stock, anything is possible.

I do right now for just under 20K. Due to local smog laws, I will never be able to legally punch this motor up to beat a new Vette in the HP department, but it will be very respectable for a full time street car and daily driver when the new motor is complete. At that point I will have about 23K into it. I have to get this car onto scales and verify but I would guess that I am very close to 50/50 bias- and certainly threr with a full tank of fuel and the spare tire in the back

I'm sure Dean would have said otherwise had he not been banned. Perhaps he'll still make an apperance in this thread if he decides to get another screen name.
In any case, I have no doubt in my mind that almost any car (especially something like a thirdgen) can be made to be better than another car with time and money.
By the way, why does everything think IRS is such a vast improvement over a solid axle as far as handling goes? I was under the impression it was for a smoother ride and that is about it.

Just a thought, I've seen several mid 80 vettes down here in FLA for sale under 5geez. The 83/84 were the first ones to be able to corner at the 1g mark. At that price, I'd start there, adapt the rear suspension in and use a tube front end, vette brakes all the way around.
