Big drop = horrible handling?
Ehyo,
Eibachi sportline springs...=1.6" drop front
= 1.3" drop rear
255/40/17 front tires are 25" OD. (according to the manifactures specs)
and 285/35/18 rears is 26" OD.( "ditto")
if 25.7" OD is stock, thats a .7" drop front and .3" lift from stock
so 1.6 + .7 = 2.3" drop front and
1.3 - .3 = 1" drop rear
====
I do this because i love the front of the car slammed and the rear a bit taller (very agressive look).....is this going to really mess up my handling?
im not road racing or auto-x but i love to take the turns. and im usually a little heavy footed......(i drive at like 5.00 am when the sun is up and no-one is on the road. its like driving in the middle of the night with no cars but only its daylight"
thanks!

A 25.7" tll tire to a 25" tall tire cahnge is only 0.35" change in chassis height from the ground. Not 0.7", its half that. You are going to get a better traction handlling tire staying with a 245/45-17" tire up front. That 25" tall 255/40-17 will look goofy(its too small of diameter for the car) and will also hurt handling. The 10mm you try and gain in width will equal to probably more like 6-7mm when stuffed onto the same size rim as the 245/45-17 and the 255 will cause you a wobblier sidewall. Plus what you are gaining in width, you are loosing in circumfrence contact patch.
Go with the 245/45-17 for a stillfer sidewall and a better used contact patch.
Thats not that low, Its an average lowering job. Ground clearence will not be a problem as long as you are not hitting speed bumps at 20 mph or have crappy shocks and struts that do not minimize suspension travel.
I sit at about 2.25" or mabe even a tad more like 2 3/8" lower than stock from what people have judged for me off of measurements. This is on factory heioght 25.7" tall tires. I do have to watch out on tall speedbumps (maybe 1 out of every 10 I come across) but mostly never touch. I am about as low as you can get without having daily scraping issues on the aftermarket solid trans crossmember (stock trans crossmember has more clearance)
