boyd's customs?
ok guys ill admit it. i feel really stupid because i hear all the time that guys ask them to custom make a set of rims. what are the prices like for this. all that they do is set the offset and backspacing that you tell them to a rim that you choose with the correct bolt pattern? seem to pricey?

depends on the size wheel u get
i orderd smoothie2 17x8 with a 4.5" BS 17x10 6" BS. its been about a month and i was told it takes anywhere from 1 - 2 months to get them, mine were just over 1000$ total

I paid $1600 for two (2) 18x8's and two (2) 18x9.5's custom made to fit thirdgens but that included shipping to Hawaii which is about $200. I consider it money well spent.

mine cost 1670 with shipping , and took 11 weeks exactly to get them , took for friggen ever to get them it seemed like . Shipping on my 4 rims was like 70 , boyd must have raised his prices on stuff.

I was told it was mainly due to gas prices...but who knows I may just be getting screwed over........looks like Im waiting til week 11 too , which sucks cuz my suspension is done and Im just waitin on these

18x8/18x10 with realitive bs...Hotrod model, just got my lugs in the mail today with a note saying 'you will be contacted for wheel shipment within the next 10 days'......felt like they were taunting me by sending me just the lugs

that doesn't make any sense to me? did it come with tires too? i must be missing something then as their site sure has changed and their wheel prices went up almost $150-175 a rim. they sure went up alot... wow
at least their gotcha series isn't bad, looking through the rest. $2,000 for a set of 17" wheels from boyd! two years ago it was half that...
i can't believe it, you could get a nicer set of i-forged or hre for slightly more... boyd is crazy.

sorry, that does include tires as well, but nonetheless, from the time that I started looking into hotrods, to now, the prices have gone up an average of 150 per rim

$2800 huh? wow that is nuts. I wonder if my quote from his son Chris is still good then if I were to go with them. I had it in an email of mine from last year. That should have come with tires for that price. And then add on the wait, damn that is not fun.

be sure to put a couple coats of 100% carnuba on them before you drive with them. helps protect from brake dust and will make polishing easier down the road.

i dont use anything on them after i polish. I tried carnumba like jeff says ans it seems to work fine. But the crap is like grease ansd it takeas a million rags to go it . So i just dont put anything on them . It works but too much work for my tastes. I wanna see some more pics too.

thx for the info on the wax jeff, Ill be sure to do that. They wont be on the car for a couple more days...Im replacing my shocks and some other components. I did however fit the rear one on...and it looks like I may have a slight issue with the fender lip....we'll see though

Maybe he is talking abuot one of those waxes that comes in a small circular aluminum can that looks like candle wax (hard)? Not like the newer waxes that now come in squeeze bottles. That is what I thought about when he said that.

backspacing was 6".....it's gonna take a little longer to finish the suspension though, I cant seem to get my prokit springs installed am I missing something?...I skimmed through 1200 threads containing the words 'spring install' but nothing really showing how to put the fronts in.

as far as what works on aluminum that is a matter of opinion. I've tried both ways and found problems with each, but FWIW, most of the pros say "don't put anything on it, just wipe it down with something like windex to keep it clean" (water will start oxidizing and dull the finish)
