The way I've seen it done in shops is to suck the resovoir 2/3 empty and then fill back with fresh fluid. Do this 3x total and then turn the wheel full left. Repeat 3x. Turn full right. Repeat 3x...and so on and so forth until all the old fluid is gone.

here is what we do at the shop.
brakes:
suck out the master with something like a turkey baster thingie, use a lint free type of close to clean the junk out, fill with new brake fluid
gravity bleed the brakes
then refill
one you have new complete fluid, once a year suck the master out and replace

power sterring:
suck it out with the turkey baster
replace
run car
suck it out again
replace
etc
that works
or take the return line to the pump, place that in a pan, have someone start the car, fill fluid as needed.

tranny:
since most cars have drain plugs, if not invest in one, well worth it
drain fluid
replace fluid (sometimes i put an extra quart or two in = overfill)
start up, run, like 2 mins, turn off
redrain fluid
refill
repate 3 times
or
pull return line off coler, put into a jug (like an old washer fluid bottle)
have someone start car, someone holds line into jug
as car runs
someone puts fluid into tranny and someone watches the jug fill
doe this until just comes out nice and red. may need like 2-3 empty jugs for a nice perfect flush. again this is extreme but it works awesome
you can drain almost 1 gal out then refill too, since you arent driving the car it wont really do harm.
i guess for a transfer case, it could be the same.

the turkey baster at a dollar store is worth it's weight in gold

i like to do this every year on the cars, since it's so easy to do and makes those parts last alot longer

while you're at it dont forget the radiator, overflow tank, and rear diff.

on new cars, fluids are the most important things to change regulary due to the high heat the cars run, and again 95% of new cars have tranny drain plugs, takes 5 mins to drain and refill.
of course on a 700r4 it also never hurts to change the tranny filter.
i recommend doing that, replacing the pan with a dearlee tubed pan, has a drain plug
and fill and drain the fluid like 3 times, you'll pretty much be fully flushed.
i did that method in my Commanche, was BLACK tranny fluid. did that 5 times over 3 months, and now its nice and red, and cleaned out.
every oil change i change the tranny fluids, as a way to flush em out (since i tow the jetskis with the jeeps)
