Re: Torque Arm Mount Install

Are you going to change the complete mount? You're probally going to have to drop the tranny i belive to get enough clearance to get the bolts out.

You can take the side piece off, by the 14 mm screw and the 15mm bolt at the top. I've done it. If you're lucky, you can take the other 15mm bolts loose, and take the crossmember or the tranny mount loose, and push the trans over enough to get the other 2 bolts loose. I highly doubt it'll work, but its worth a try.
Best bet is to just drop the crossmember, and see where that gets you. If not, take it all the way out.

I'm not sure if the rubber piece will just come out, if it will, just take the half off, then move the arm out theway, and replace it and put it back...

Hope this helps.

Re: Torque Arm Mount Install

I've never taken the bushing loose, but i'm assuming it pushes in to the bracket. Just get under the car, take the drivers side half of the mount loose. Theres a 14mm screw and the 15mm bolt that goes through. When you get it out, slightly push down on the mount, and push it towards the back of the car, then tilt it down to the ground and the front should come out of the slot.

Are you going with a poly bushing? You are going to have to get the mounting bracket off. IIRC, you will need to drill the little dimples off of each half of the bracket, to get the old bushing out.

Re: Torque Arm Mount Install

are you sure you have the correct mount? I had a similar problem. I had the wrong mount. They made 2 different ones, depends on which way the lips on the torque arm are pointed.

Not sure, I might have the wrong mount? Should the clamshell close fine with the right mount? THANKS

Re: Torque Arm Mount Install

crawl underneath and look at it.

Mine closes easy. slide the tab at the bottom into the slot, push together and put the bolt in up top. Take the bushing off the torque arm and try to put it in. It will go only one way. once you get it in, look and see if the lips face the same way or not as the ones in the torque arm.

I had the same problem...I bought mine from summit and they only listed one energy poly bushing for the 700r4. I just bought a longer bolt and with a crow bar shut it and tightened it up...it hasn't squeaked yet....

when did you look at summit? Ive seen two listed for awhile.

ENS-3-1111 for lips facing away from the driveshaft
and
ENS-3-1112 for lips facing towards the driveshaft

G code at the end for Black, R for Red

and if you have an 82-83, ENS-3-1110

Re: Torque Arm Mount Install

Any issue(s) with the poly bushing not being affixed to the mount like the original mount... I assume just grind off and remove the old mount and just fit the new poly mount in place or roll?

hat's all I did. The mount is two pieces, just grind out and clean/prep the mount. I sprayed the mount with Bed Liner for protection and used an ES mount. Pretty simple.
