KYB-GR2/Moog 5662 height

Ok so yesterday finally I was able to get my KYB-GR2 struts and Moog 5662 springs installed on the camaro. The rear also has KYBs but didn't change the springs yet. I know this is an old car and we can't compare old struts/shocks to new, but I was curious about the height.

I measured my wheel gap, it looks like its on pretty high compared to what I had before or what my other 86 has. The measurement on both sides is at 27.5 inches on the front. I didn't cut any coils or anything.

So, in your guys' opinion this seem about right? And about how long till they settle?

Here are some pics of what its at now. I can actually say my airdam wont be hitting $#!t but still, feels like a 4x4.

Re: KYB-GR2/Moog 5662 height

My first thought is that the front only looks tall because the back end is too low.

27.5" is what I have up front as well. I did mine in the reverse of you. Backs first and then the fronts a few months later.

In my case, I had the jacked up rear look with slammed front......After doing the fronts, it didn't make the fronts look much taller. But it seemed to make the rears look lower. As such, I suspect that once you do the rear springs, it will make the fronts seem lower too. You wouldn't expect this. But it's all about balance between front and rear.

Besides, those pictures are taken at low angles. Just about every car will seem taller when you get down on the ground to take a picture. But if you take the same picture at regular standing height, it will seem lower.

Re: KYB-GR2/Moog 5662 height

Ok, thanks for the response Reid.

I was curious because on both 86s the nose of the vehicle was parallel to the ground. The TPI 86 has the original gfx and sat a lot closer to the ground as well but didn't scrape as much as I had changed the struts after buying it. Right now the Carbed 86's (the one on the pictures) nose actually points up, but it also has some cheap plastic nose due to a slight collision from the previous owner. That could be the reason it looks so high up.
Guess I'll wait maybe till next month to add the rear springs when I transfer the rear end. Moog 5665 is the recommended springs for the rear if using 5662 on the front right?

Mine is the opposite. My car looks lower in the front with the 5662. Going to put the 5665 in this weekend.

Loswa, Reid. Man oh Man, looking for this subject post for some time. Being old school and old too, how I wish my 91 Camaro would look level or just a tad higher in front. Some say new springs make little difference except for the lowering kind. The more I read the more confused I become. Someone added that sway bar made a difference, Care to give an opinated response. Others welcomed! Thanks

I've never heard of sway bars changing the height. But I've never changed my sway bars.

Springs do change your height. But so do new struts and shocks.

Honestly, I think you can't make judgments on height immediately after install. Sure there is typically some minor, very tiny bits of settling. But mostly it has to do with your head. When I did the rear shocks and springs, I remember putting the car back on the ground after letting the jack down. And it looked quite tall. A definite noticeable change......Now when I walk up to the car, it doesn't seem tall at all. It looks normal and proper. Like it doesn't have old worn out springs in it.

As far as front springs go, the 5662 look good and feel good. I like them. You have a V8. If you want to up your height, these would do the trick. But the front springs didn't seem to make as big a difference in height as the rears did on my car. Regardless, measure the height of the car from ground through the center of your wheel to the tip of your wheel well. Gives a good base measurement for before.
