New front coil springs or not?

I'm replacing the front bushings, ball joints, etc and I have the old springs out. It's a 90' RS 3.1 EFI with about 185k miles and needs paint. Do you think I should put new front coil springs in it? 2 buddies said no? The cost adds up, but I don't want to regret later that I didn't do it. What would you do ? All the suspension and steering is original.

I'd put new Moog 5660s in, drive for a few weeks so they can settle in, then decide about cutting them.

Re: New front coil springs or not?

whats your budget? are you wanting to lower it? or change the stance? It's really depends what YOU want. The springs may be a lil softer and sag a lil but are you unhappy with anything spring related? I would only change them if you need or want something different as far as ride or ride height.

A coat of paint (like POR15) would be a good idea while you are in there. Did it to mine, looks nice, and stops rust.

Re: New front coil springs or not?

I'm not trying to change anything on the car, just wanted to know if I should replace the springs while I have them out.

Re: New front coil springs or not?

Only replace them if they don't have the same compression rate as they originally did. A shop should be able to test it out for you.
