Founders rear kit

Just ordered the Founders Performance non adjustable rear end kit. I am hoping it is as good as people say it is. Are there any tricks/concerns/prep work that need to be addressed for a good install? Or is it just a "out with the old, in with the new" kind of thing? I am buying new bolts for the LCAs and Panhard Bar, and gonna get the Spohn Super Lube grease.

Re: Founders rear kit

curious as well, thinking about ordering one too. Bent mine yesterday trying to get it out so I could replace coil springs. Oh well, time to upgrade I suppose. The stock one is a piece of junk after 30 years.

I am going to hold off on installation until I can get springs and shocks. Got it tore apart anyways, might as well.

Re: Founders rear kit

Check your local Ace Hardware for the SuperLube grease. I found it there far cheaper than Spohn and I didn't have to have it shipped either.

I've removed an installed my factory PHB a few times now. Yeah it's the last suspension piece I need to be total aftermarket (minus the sway bars I already have WS6). You should keep track of which side the bolts came out of. They are different sizes. I reinstalled them wrong the first time and guess what after I had one side totally tightened down I couldn't get the other side to fit. I put the smaller bolt in the larger hole.

LCAs there isn't much too them. I would recommend only doing them one at a time. Trying to put both on at once (did during a 10 bolt swap) was not fun.

Re: Founders rear kit

I have the adj rear kit from founders and it really is a simple R&R

Bolts should come with the kit. If they dont, you want grade 10.9's for metrics. Hardware store 8.8's are approx a grade 5 in SAE. You'll probably have to hit up fastenal or McMaster for those

Re: Founders rear kit

I just installed Founders rear control arms and Panhard bar on my 1988 Formula 350. A good product at a reasonable price. Very pleased with them so far, tightened up rear suspension a good bit, no more rear axle steer or hopping under hard acceleration.

Re: Founders rear kit

I put a Founders set on my T/A,was fairly easy, did not come with bolts but my local gm dealer had them in stock.

I also did sway bar end links and bushings and installed a wonder bar up front, car feels much crisper now in corners now,no more swayback maru lazy corner feel.

Re: Founders rear kit

I am changing out the bolts on both the LCAs and the PHB. Got the LCA bolts with the parts and getting the PHB bolts from Hawks. Im glad to see a lot of positive news on this kit.
