QA1 vs Viking shox for the rear end?

I´m gonna swap out my old yellow Konis that have been mounted in the rear of my Iroc for 15 years now. I´ve been looking at the QA1 double adjustable show, but now there are the new DA show from Viking for a lot less money. That sets of the million dollar (crowns for me) question. Are the Viking shox of a crappy quality?
Has anyone here any experience with either ones?

I now that I don't like my Konis because of not enough rebound control.

The viking shocks have great reviews over on ls1 tech. I will be ordering mine on monday. The snow is flying here so i wont have any reviews till spring but the research i have done says they are well worth it.

The damping curves on Viking vs QA1 are very similar. Quality is nice on both. Viking sells for less as they only have double adjustable (no non's or singles) which allows them to build more volume of the same product.

We've used Vikings for a few years now and also work on some development with them. Good stuff.

How stiff of springs are you running? I haven't had any issue with 350lb/in springs in back with the third gen yellows, I don't even think I had the rebound maxed out. I suppose it's possible they're just wore out, but they should still be covered by Koni's warranty.

If you really want coil overs I've been very happy with the koni 30-5436 circle track shocks with an all star coil over kit.

Re: QA1 vs Viking shox for the rear end?

I don't know my spring rate. It´s Eibach sport line springs. But the Konis have been quite bad with my road conditions since they were new. If I have them in the softest setting the suspension will suspend/compress over bumps, but the recoil is way too fast so in a mid corner bump the car steps sideways. If they are set up harder, they will not eat up ANY bumps because of it being too stiff. So either way the car will bounce off the road because of the live axle/stiff suspension set up. I´m really looking into IRS set ups, but there is NOTHING bolt on at all..So it requires a lot of fab work.

Re: QA1 vs Viking shox for the rear end?

The sport lines are an 80-137 lbs/in progressive rear spring. That's not much stiffer, if at all, than stock. I run 200 lbs/in rear springs with the third gen Koni yellows and can say there is plenty of rebound control, I'm not even on the stiffest setting. I think you might be misdiagnosing your problem or it's time for a rebuild, which Konis have a lifetime warranty.

Roostmeyer, what's the specs on the rest of your suspention setup? 350 lbs/in seems like a LOT of rear spring. Are they in the stock location?

I don't mean to sound like I'm questioning if you know what you're doing or not, I'm just curious. I have the Ground Control/Koni setup with 850 fronts and 200 rears, and I couldn't imagine going any higher in the back let alone up to 350.

hey guys,
not meaning to completely hijack this thread but just a quick bit of info i need: what spring rate are the eibach pro-kits then, if not even the sport lines are much stiffer than stock? gonna put in yellow konis soon into my formula (so it's got ws6, around 65kmls).
