Got some track times for the new 305
got some new track times at Edinburg International Racetrack this past week. This is the first time I head out to the track since my new list of mods to the Lo3.
305 TPI heads with bigger springs
Air gap intake with adapter plate
Holley 670 TBI with 305 injector pod
New headman long tube coated headers with S-extentions
True dual exuast with X-pipe and bullet mufflers
1.6 proform roller rockers
Adjustable billet aluminum control arms and pan hard bar
MSD 6AL with adjustable timming control box(alows you to adjust timming from inside the car)
new purge kit and bottle warmer
SLP stall converter(2800RPM stall speed at the track)
The car is in need of some very good chip tunning it has some bugs that need to be worked. Runs were done with a set of 16" Et streets in the rear and drag lites with front sway bar removed in the front
1st run not a very good 60' time here
E.T. 13.098
MPH 107.734
60' 2.089
2nd run
E.T.12.811 good run but room for improvement
MPH 105.765
60' 1.730
3rd run messed around with the msd timming control ****
E.T 13.058
MPH 109.365 pulling hard on the top end
60' 1.917

Awesome. Great times, that's really cool to see you pulling a 12 second run! How much of a shot of nitrous were you running? I didn't notice if you said that.

You deffinately need some chip tuning. Your MPH is wicked and good for mid 12's. Those times are amazing. Keep your fingers crossed on the short blocks life though. What does it do off the bottle?

So are those times with the stock tune or are you saying you have done some tuning but need a little more? Either way awesom times for a 305 with or without nitrous.

How did you adapt the No2 after the holley tbi? Did you just go with a squarebore plate, and did it adapt to the tbi N02 setup ok?

When I installed my intake and holley TB I needed a chip to eliminate vats, egr, speedlimiter and I went for the fastest, cheapest way out....TBICHIPS.com oh well It runs kinda of crapy at part throttle, its mostly due to the increased air flow from the intake, holley TB, and stock injectors with AFPR
I took apart the NOS TBI plate and bored it out to the required 2in, it worked out great, I was thinking about goin with a carb plate setup since they are inexpensive
I also changed the old fuel pump with a brand new TPI unit
No new N/A times yet
If you all have any questions or need more pics just ask

i have a nitrous question.
how do you control your timing for nitrous use?
and what prep work did you do to the engine before using nitrous?
colder plugs?
synthetic oil?
did u retard the timing from stock timing, or from most advance and go down from their?
do u run 91 octane?
fuel cell or just fill the tank?

Colder plugs and plenty of fuel are a must, I run Autolite #25 plugs which are one step colder, and a new TPI fuel pump which keeps the presure steady
Timing is controled via the msd timing control box that lets you retard the timming from inside the car for nitrous use. I started off with 7 or 8 degrees - current timing and then fine tune from there with the turn of **** and always use 93 octane or higher

Nice times. But damnit man, you need to crop those pictures. They'd be just a hair less than full screen on my 21" monitor at home, but they're down right enormous on this little 15" panel.

How many times have you used the nitrous?
I thought about running l98 heads and a 100 shot on my 350.
Some people run 125+ shots on stock blocks and they last forever...then there are guys who say they will never put nitrous on stock internals....what do you think about that? Think Id be safe with a 100 shot?

as per holley's web page: small block V8's (302/350/400cid) can typically accept up to 140 extra HP,
If holley claims that, im sure you could prolly run even more with out worrying too much, b/c you know that they're going to be covering their asses. 125 sounds like a safe amount to me though.

I have the GM goodwrench lo5 replacement. It has NODULAR IRON CRANKSHAFT, POWDERED METAL CONNECTING RODS and FLAT TOP HYPEREUTECTIC PISTONS. Got that straight off the website. My compression is a tad high but I plan on getting the MSD box with the timing adjuster like you have.
I think I would be safe with a 100 shot. I will be running a holley blue 110gph pump...plenty of fuel. And a MSD 6al box for my rev limiter. With my internals you think I could handle l98 heads, lt4 cam, street dominator intake, 670 SA carb, TES headers, no cat, and a hooker catback with 100hp shot of nitrous?
I want to get into the 7's in the 1/8th. I think I could do it with all that if I can hook.

OOOOO BTW:
Those are some really good times.
I know a guy that has a 2002 TA a4. Only 2 mods he has is a SLP catback and a 150 shot of nitrous. His best 1/4 mile run was only a 12.54. He even has 17x9.5 tires, 275's in the back I think.
He's gonna crap himself when I tell him what you have and what your running.

125 shot is safe for a stock motor. camaroracer1992 prolly ran 20bottles or more through his old 305 and when we took it apart it looked like new.
as long as you have nitrous and fuel pills matched correctly it is not really that huge a strain on teh motor.

dry kit is just nitrous, but tells the injectors to raise pressure and inject more fuel
a wet kit injects nitrous and fuel independantly and doesnt have to rely on bumping up pressure in the injectors.

For TBI (and carb like me) I would definetly run a wet kit. Safer and easier to tune in.
I am going to get the edelbrock performer kit. It comes with 50, 75, and 100 jets. I am not gonna go over 100 until I get a stronger bottom end. Still 100hp will be nice. I'm hoping I can get well in the 12's with l98 heads, my cam, my intake/carb/exhaust and a 100 shot. Suspension is probably what I'm gonna need to accomplish this.

My exhuast only runs up to the rear end and stops there but it has a very nice rumble to it
Coated long tube headman headers from American coating specialties 310$ shipped
Headman S-extensions-jegs 21$or so< these are a must
2-2 1/2 Bullet Mufflers-jegs 65$
Stainless steel X-pipe-ebay40$
45 degree mandrel bent tubing Jcwhitney.com your gona need about 2 or 3 of them I think they run 9$each
Then just take to a good muffler shop and have them add a few peices of straight pipe and weld it all in.
It fits really nice in the drive shaft tunnel, the only problem is the pipe to ground clearance over the trany cross member
But the sound rocks!!!!

hey can i ask how and where you tapped the fuel line for the nitrous?
i know we have that rubber part of the fuel line by the driver side valve cover.
i want to tap into that but cant seem to find a part that i need.

Nope I do not have a sound clip yet, but you can give me a call and hear it over the phone
To the supply the fuel I used a simple hardware store T-fitting with hose clamps on the fuel line and ran it from there

what kind of t fitting? was it
5/8" all 3 sides?
or what?
thanks for a quick response!
i could do it like nos does it, but thats expensive, i would need a 4an Tee and a 4an to 5/8" compression fitting..
thats like 30 bux right their :S

that would be awesome if you could do that.
did you just pick up the tee at a local hardware store?
how did you fit it inot the 4an line?

nice exhaust set up zrated, i was looking into the whole bullet exhaust myself, but didnt really want to run true duals, do you know if it would be possibly to use a Y pipe instead of an Xpipe, and run the fake dual exhaust off of the singular exhaust from the headers?
