Do I have to chip tune for this cam?

I have a competition cams extreme 4X4 CL 12-231-2 (x4250h) camshaft

I know its realy a truck cam, but it is free and comes with brand new lifters.

I thought it might be good in my car because the car is a daily driver.

Do you guys think it would be OK in my 88 305 TBI without having to tune the chip?

I copied the specs below

Operating Range: 600-4600 RPM
Duration Advertised: 250° Intake / 258° Exhaust
Duration @ .050'' Lift: 206° Intake / 214° Exhaust
Valve Lift w/1.5 Rockers: .432'' Intake / .453'' Exhaust
Lobe Separation Angle: 111°

Or should I go and buy a different cam?

I do have a mild stage one chip from TBI chips.com that is tuned for 87 octane gas I could use if that would help with this setup.

What do You all think?

TBI chips only changes WOT timing and fueling so it's not going to help with that cam. Thats a pretty mild cam, it should run but you won't be taking full advantage of it without tuning. Check out Dewey316, he ran a cam a smidgen bigger than that.

Car: 88 Camaro SC
Engine: SFI'd 350
Transmission: TKO 500
Axle/Gears: 9-bolt w/ 3.23's
I put one of those in my 350. With just the cam, it ran like crap. With the cam and vortec heads, the stock tune didnt even alow the engine to run. The only flat tappet that worked without tuning was a stock GM '929 cam, but thats probably similar to whats already in the engine currently.
