Axle/Gears: moser axles eaton posi 3.73 gears
would a lt1 cam swap be worth it with my set up?

now I was thinking about a lt1 cam and rr's in hopes to getting closer to 12's but Iam not sure how much power I would see over the stock l31 cam I have now I think it is a 410 427 lift or close to it (if you know the stock vortec 350 cam specs please post)
I would go with something bigger but I have vortec heads and I dont want to pull em so the lt1 cam is at its lift limmits

191/196 @ .050, .418/.430" lift, 111 LSA, installed on a 112" Intake Centerline (atleast on the 1997 G1500 350 that is in my garage (hole through block due to intake gaskets and hydraulic (coolant) lock).
The B-body LT1 uses the same cam as the Vortec 350. The Vortec heads are essentially copies of the IRON LT1 heads. The B-Body was rated 260 FWHP/335 FT/LBS vs 245/335 of a vortec truck. The Iron head F-body LT1 with a single catalyst was 275 FWHP/340 TQ. The cam was worth about 25 HP in stock form but the single cat probably choked 10 FWHP out of the combo. With headers, better exhaust, carb intake, tuning, etc, I could see 30+ FWHP from the cam swap alone.
I've got the LT4 cam in my 365 Vortec in my G1500 Express (Marine intake, Headers, Later model high flow cats, Flowmaster 50 series, OBDII tuning). A spring is available on the market to allow HIGH lifts on otherwise stock Vortec heads. I forget who makes it, but it is common knowledge on Fullsizechevy.com.

I am running the Vortec's with .480 lift by using offset retainer locks. Crane makes them.
The springs Fast is referring to are probably Manley's. I have a set to go on but you will still need to cut down the guides for more than the above lift.

I don't see any mention of what torque converter you have. If its a tight stockish converter you probably want to use a stockish cams. It just depends on your starting line situation and how much traction you have vs how much torque. If it drives off the line at WOT with no tire spin, increasing cam duration will probably hurt your 60ft time. On the other hand, if its hard to get out of the hole without spinning the tires, losing a little torque will make it easier to launch.
