Nightmare with my TBI at the track
Well I was only able to pull in two runs, my first was a 16.04 followed by a 17.02 because of massive spinning issues. The point of this post is to ask what my cars potential should be because on my 16.04 run I pulled a 2.2 60 foot. I would hope after all of the work ive done that its just me and not the car. On my first pass I launched at 2000rpm and still spun but that was better than the 3000rpm the second time. What is the cars potential guys this is upsetting lol? Any tips on how to keep the radial t/a's from smoking up every time?

We could tell alot more from all the times on your time slip, MPH is the important thing. You've basically have a full exhaust, so bottom 16's isn't bad, you probably have more left in it with a good launch. Maybe a 15.8ish, hard to tell.

Well its a five speed and I have heard with bolt ons they can run a low 15. on my best run the times were:
60 foot: 2.403
330: 6.718
1/8: 10.344 @ 68.36 mph
1000: 13.423
1/4 mile : 16.047 @ 86.22 mph

Get that 60' down and you'll be much better. You should be faster with the 5speed car. With an open element, 3.42's and flowmaster muffler on stock pipes I was able to cut a 2.2 60' and get a 15.7 at 87. You should be able to do better than that MPH. Mine's heavier and you have full exhaust. Get the 60' down, maybe do a tune up on it, cap and rotor and plugs.

It has a fresh tune up, but I cant find a good launching point and it spins bad, if I could stop that I would hope it would be faster.

Well, then you pretty much just told yourself what your next mod should be. That 2.2 60' I cut was launching hard and for the first time ever at the track. Because I had 3.42 gears and POSI. That is the key here, pick up a good posi unit and some gears, you'll love the decision after you do it believe me.

This guy offered me a set of S-10 3.73 gears and a spool lol for $100, is that worth it or is a spool horrible for daily driver?

nah you don't want a spool. I got a 3 series zexel torsen posi carrier with 3.42 gears for $170 shipped. I found that off of ebay and it had about 10k miles on it. If I were to do it again, I would definitely find a torsen rear like I did, I like it a lot. But, any posi unit will work fine, but you would hate a spool setup.

Radial T/A's should be called Spinner T/A's. I have never had a good launch on mine. (Mine are 265/50/15's)
Get a 3.42 Posi and some LCA's. The LCA's will reduce wheelhop dramatically.

man this has me worried i am going to run my 91 rs this weekend at the track and its bone stock the only mods are 2 degrees timing and a truck air cleaner base plumbed for cold air. its a auto with 2.73 gears and i am almost certain it will be in the low 16 to high 15s I will be sure to let yah know how it runs. As long as i can cut a low light and it runs consistant times I will go rounds and thats what matters any way its gonna be a big change from my nova so i may not figure the light out fast anough
