TBI/PCV/14X3
Okay I have a 14X3 open element. So when I did the conversion I drilled a hole in the new air cleaner lid so I could put the I.A.T.C. (?) in it. Then I removed the breather and used a push in PCV breather on it. So now I am looking at putting on some nice, good looking valve covers. I was wondering, can I just plug the PCV tube on the TBI and not run a PCV or breather on the driver side head? Last time I tried just running a breather I had a problem with oil smoking out of the breather. I don't have a problem on the passanger side though where I used the PCV push-in breather (where is has the valve but looks like a breather). The new covers I'm looking at only have two holes, I would assume one for PCV and one for the oil cap (I hope) or how the hell do you put in the oil, here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...393057&r=0&t=0

U could have a machine shop just drill some custom holes u want for real cheap. It wouldn't take them long at all to do it.

If that's how you need to get oil in ther for oil changes, that is fine. You need two valve cover holes:
AN EXHAUST hole, which always consists of a hole for the PCV valve.
AN INTAKE HOLE, usually in the opposite valve cover, which ALWAYS serves a a filter for the incoming air. It can be for a breather filter OR a grommet for a line to the air cleaner (to serve as the filter for the air for the pcv system).
Does that answer your question? PCV valves must be matched to the application, as they have different spring rates and total flow rates, which many do not know. As proof, look at the bottom of the PVC valve and you will see a letter code, which I believe is for TOTAL FLOW, but I'm probably wrong. Could be spring rate. Can't remember...
EDIT: and DO NOT run a PCV valve without a breather!!!!!!!!!!!!!
