My current motor wont rev past like 1500-2000rpms and thats when im flooring it.
Any idea on who makes a solid 350 or 383 motor that would be easily tuned in and makes some decent power?
I know cheaping out is bad, but the cheaper it is, the better.

Honestly I would be looking for simple things. Fuel Delivery, Timing, and crossed plug wires.. Stuff like that.. It may even be that you are trying to run the stock chip on the engine in your signature? That definately will not work.

Not stock chip. wires are good, im going to check everything out today. But it ran fine earlier that day. Then it started smoking bad and it smelt like tranny fluid and it wouldent rev. Couldent even make it up a hill!

Everything checks out. Seems like a spun bearing or something. Today I couldent even back it into the garage, it wont even rev up to 1000rpms and it smokes pretty bad.
So no one has any ideas on where I can get a good 350 or 383 for a fair price?

JY? If you want cheap. Most junk yards will warranty their motors for a fee. as to say they'll give you 30 days for a small fee. that way you could have it running and know how it runs pretty surely. if it craps out or turns out that it isn't buildable they're obligated to give you one that is.

Check Craigslist. I bought a 4 bolt main Vortec 350 with 50k miles off of Craigslist for $150 then added 1.6 rockers, headers & intake to replace our dead 305 TBI. Now she'll run high 13s in 1/4.

I had a similar problem on my V6 car a while back, changed the cat.. The guy was just dropping the head shielding to drop the tank, and the neoprene hose was twisted causing low fuel pressure.. It sucked.
