my car has a ton of problems, help me

Background info:
89 firebird
About 6 months ago - replaced fuel pump, injectors, plugs, cap and rotor, belts and hoses
Week ago - battery, egr valve, tps sensor, tps connector, and IAC.

Current issues: rapidly changing idle, from about 1,000 to 400 and after it changes a couple times it ends up dieing. Giving it gas seems to keep it running but it sounds like its sputtering, If I can keep the car running Il put it into gear and sometimes dies. If it doesn't die, I go to take off and it has no power. Accelerating is like pulling teeth, it doesn't get up to speed, shifts too early, and sometimes dies while cruising. Seemed fine a couple weeks ago, drove it everyday to work with no problems. Now I can barely hit 50 mph. What is going on with my car? When my foot is on the gas and going about 35 mph or over the ses light will turn off, but when I take it off the light will come back on. Checked the light and I got codes 22 and 44. I need some real pros to help me out here. I gotta work at three tomorrow and this is the last thing I need right now.
Thanks guys,
Matt

Re: my car has a ton of problems, help me

The idle air control valve was just replaced a couple days ago, it should be good, but what do you mean "spot on"? Like the tps could be offset a little or something?

Re: my car has a ton of problems, help me

code 22 is tps. It is probably out of adjustment. Check for threads on here on how to adjust your tps sensor

Hey, thanks undercover, that completely slipped my mind. I was in a hurry when I put it in right before i went to work and must have forgotten to adjust both the tps and iac. this whole time I've been tryin to figure out what was wrong and I guarantee that's what it is. You saved my *** man, thanks. haha wow.

Re: my car has a ton of problems, help me

Well it was running good for a little while, now I'm still getting bucking and chugging. At stop lights the car will die, as soon as i start it it dies unless I keep on the gas. As soon as i let off it dies so I have to pop it into gear and accelerate to keep it alive. It takes way to long to get up to speed, also, I do have a code 44 wich is a lean exhaust indication. Not sure where to go from here bit I've heard from a few people that a failing fuel pump can cause code 44. Doesn't surprise me though, I got the pump from autozone.

Re: my car has a ton of problems, help me

Ah that sucks. Check your fuel pressure. Check your injectors make sure they are spraying a nice good cone shape spray. Other than that I dont have much experience with a Code 44 maybe someone else can chime in and help.

Driver side exhaust manifold - just above oil filter.

Use AC -Delco unit (avoid BOSCH since it response curve is different from OE)

Re: my car has a ton of problems, help me

Also, I checked codes again last night and got both 43 and 44...

Checked the book and it looks like 43 is a electronic spark timing/control problem. anyone know anything about that?

Re: my car has a ton of problems, help me

damn, iv had all these problems with my 92 3.1, i did all that you did and got no good results, until i changed the position sensor, after that i found out my ignition coil had a short where the wires go down behind the block n what not. possibly check that out, after i fix that problem, it ran like a champ till the smog pump started to fail, and the timing was a bit off, fixed both those problems and then another thing came up. fuel injectors, i gotta get em cleaned which what i going to do in the next couple of day. and a bad ignition coil will/could fry your rotor, its what happened to me/ lol right? if its not one thing its another. but hey, its fun, keeping these beauties alive. also check for some vacuum leaks, i kinda laugh when i was reading your problems. like geez, same symptoms i had. good luck man. get your bird running nicely
