Rough idle, shaking, stalling, blue smoke

I have a 92 305 TBI with a 188, 000 miles on it. It ran perfectly until the other day when one injector stopped working. When one injector goes out (as it has happened once before) the car idles roughly (as is expected), it only slightly pinged when taking off, but i drove it 30 mph or so for 15 miles, then i replaced the injector & then the engine ran perfectly for years afterward. But, the other day the other injector went out, & after i replaced it & was slightly tightening the torx screws, the injector pod cracked & when i started it up fuel started spewing toward the front of the car. I placed a piece of metal around the cracked injector pod so that the fuel would just drip down into the throttle bore. It idle'd extremely rough & would not stay running unless i kept the rpm's up to about 1500 or so. Since i was only 1/4 mile from my home, i drove like this at 10 mph for only 4 minutes or so, & it was smoking & running extremely rough.

I replaced the injector pod, started it up & the fuel now sprays normal, but the engine runs extremely rough, violetly shakes, blue smoke out the exhaust, & when i put it in reverse or drive the engine dies. I then changed all of the spark plugs (they were all coated with thick black soot), it then idled a little better but still shakes violently, blue smoke out the exhaust, & the engine dies when put in reverse or drive.

Again, this car ran perfectly until i drove it a 1/4 mile at 10 mpr with a cracked injector pod.

What could have been damaged that is now causing this?

Engine was gargling on gasoline. You can expect fouled spark plugs, washed cylinder walls, contaminated oil. Maybe failed catalytic converter.

I'd pull the plugs again for inspection. Clean or replace them as needed. Change oil. Hope for the best. That much gasoline will wash the oil off the cylinder walls, leading to heavy wear on the rings and walls. Maybe scored pistons. Hopefully, not seized piston pins. If you perform a power balance test, you may be able to track down the dead cylinders before removing spark plugs.

You can't rule out coincidence. Maybe one of the plug wires decided to open. Or the distributor cap burnt up. If plugs and fresh oil don't fix it, keep digging...

You were "slightly" tightening the screws, and the injector pod cracked? Sounds suspicious.

Re: Rough idle, shaking, stalling, blue smoke

Again, this car ran perfectly b/4 this fuel injector/pod issue. But in the past when one of the TBI fuel injectors went out i could still drive the car for miles below 40 mph, & after i replaced the bad fuel injector it ran perfectly for 3 years until this recent issue.

Does anyone think that driving the car 1/4 of a mile at about 10 mph would've damaged the heads, pistons, or rings? It was pinging & smoking while driving it home in that condition.

Excessive detonation can punch a hole in the top of a piston. So yes, it's possible damage did occur.
