Could too much blow-by ruin the EGR valve?
I recently rebuilt my engine and made the mistake of checking everything very carefully except for the ring end gap. (I trusted O'Reilly's). They gave me the wrong size rings and I had a lot of blow-by. After tearing the engine back apart to put the correct rings in and putting it all back together, I finally have my car running good again. The only thing is, now the engine is really noisy. The sound is kinda hard to describe. While the engine is idling, it almost has that distinct sound that a diesel makes. When I try to narrow down where the sound is coming from, it seems to be the noisiest at the EGR valve. Any ideas?

I just realized this morning that it sounds like that even while I'm driving. It sounds like I should be driving a Duallie down the road or something.

well hmm...have you tried at full throttle? i'm not sure if egr is suppose to shutoff at wot on f-bodies, but i guess its worth a try. if the sound goes away at WOT then maybe that would help you out...
