Anyone,
I need to turn my rotor to point at #1 plug hook-up. Rotor won't turn. How can I get it to?
Thanks,
Brett

I assume that you un bolted the hold down and are lifting the distributor out of the motor so the gear on the distributor clears the gear on the camshaft . After doing the above steps the rotor should turn freely, also make sure your motor is at TDC on the compression stroke when you point the rotor at #1, if it's not on the compression stroke but is at TDC your timing will be off 180*.
You could also just move the wires on the cap so #1 is where the rotor is pointing, when the motor is at TDC. This is alot easier than having to take the distributor out turn it and dropping it back in. FWIW

He's right, you need to pull the distributor out. Remember that the rotor is driven by the gear on the bottom of the distributor that engages both the oil pump shaft and the camshaft. If one of these is aligned incorrectly, they'll need to be moved into the proper position with the distributor out.
