ported LT1 intake pictures

I received my LT1 intake a couple of days ago from John. I wanted to post some pictures of it ported and gasket matched to a FelPro 1206 gasket. I know a lot of people said you can't open them up too much, but there's still plenty of room to go even after porting for a 1206 gasket! Here's some pictures.

How did you locate the distributor hole? I've stared at those things before, just knowing there was a hole down in there somewhere, but I couldn't find it....

Kind of like Michelangelo, he loved sculpture more than painting; he said the statue was just waiting inside the stone, all the sculptor had to do was expose it.

Hehe... well like I said.. i just received it from John. You know... the LT1 intake ***.. www.lt1intake.com. He did write an article about it. Read it and try what he did ! I gave him 200 bucks to it. For me it was well worth it.

So are you putting it on the 406 in you sig? If so how much do you think the swap will cost you? I have been thinking of putting an LT1 intake on my car.

Yes, they can be opened quite a bit and still madee to match the heads, provided you enlarge the openings on the heads as well...

RB,
I looked at how John did it and actually made something to locate the hole myself one day. Basically you just form a piece of sheet metal to the bottom of the stock tpi intake, drill holes in the sides for bolt holes, and bolt it to the intake. Then you just remove the material where the distributor hole is. I have a semi-expensive drill bit made to make the exact size hole. I think it is about 1 3/4" in diameter. After cutting the hole all you need to do is bolt your sheet metal piece to the LT1 intake from below and you've located it.

Getting the distributor to sit correctly on the LT1 intake is another story, but John has that covered as well.

Yeah, I have a set of pro action heads fully ported to go with it Yes this setup will go on the 406. All I hope for is that I get low 11s. I'm tired of tuning the carb and getting horrible gas mileage. Here's a shot of the intake ports on the heads.
