Starter Engaging, but not turning over?
Hey guys,
I just finished rewiring my car and I just tested it out for the first time least night. I tried starting it, the starter makes a clicking noise (I assume that means it's engaging the flywheel) but doesn't spin the engine at all.
I checked the wiring with another starter I had lying around and it worked perfectly, also the battery is brand new, so it gets plenty of juice.
If I remember before I took the TA off the road, it kept getting harder and harder to start. Do you guys think the starter is shot? Or maybe it got out of alignment and needs shims?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Max
BTW Does a starter need a sperate ground or does it ground out on the block? (Have one installed, just for reference sake)

could be worn brushes on the starter motor .....with the key ...ni the forward position ( you need 2 people) .....try hitting the strter housing with a hammer....when trying to start the vehicle . .....soemtimes the brushes are sooo worn they stick ......if you vehicle starts cranking ..... it is your brushes ......go buy a rebuild kit ....
