REWARD PAID for anybody that can tell me what's wrong
Alright guys, you’ve helped me before but I’m baffled this time. I have a 1991 Z28 and I just had the cylinder heads on my car professionally rebuilt. I put the car back together this last weekend(everything in the right place to my knowledge) but the car is running WAY to rich. It will run, I drove it around for 5 minutes, but my new sparkplugs were covered in carbon, and the exhaust gases smell extremely gasy. It will not rev above 3000 and will not idle, and there’s no power in-between, at idle it just sputs out, and there is a knock coming from the engine compartment. The car ran perfect before hand. We also replaced the timing chain. PLEASE HELP, I’M A CAMAROLESS TEENAGER! o ya, we also put some "Marvel Mystry Oil" in the oil.

did you check timing, with est unhooked? sure you got the valves adjusted right, tps set correctly, if you had it off?

i had a similar problem this summer when i replaced my engine. she was burning gas like shi#, like 20 bucks for 60 miles. it was very rich and had carbon on the new plugs too. the only differnece was that mine was carb'd. the problem was timing. it was way off, i set it back to normal and she ran fine. id check vacuum lines first, then grab a timing light and check the timing.

I had a 79 TA that I changed the cam/liters and timing chain and gears from Super shops. My car did the same thing. Finially had to take it in and they found that someone put the wrong crank gear in. I did not check when I bought the timing chain set to see if it was open. Now this is the wierd part the mech. told me that the gear was from a chevy and I was installing on a pontiac 400. go figure. Yours might be more of the timing either slipped off its chain or is not align right.

if your POSITIVE you got the timing right at the chain, double check with a light.. if its all good, id think misadjusted valves or possible a overlooked wire or line...

Check the map sensor it sounds like you did not plug it in to the intake that would cause a really rich condition also check to make sure the fule regulator line to the intake is hooked up. both are on the back passanger side of the plenum.
