Undercoating options??
I want to get subframe connectors and get the underside of the car undercoated when I have them installed. Are there any different options or methods of undercoating that I should ask the shop about when I go to get this all done? Thanks.

What type of undercoating are you considering? Most places just use the same stuff you can buy and use yourself. If you want somthing that will last you might consider having the underside of your car Rhyno lined in a nice color that matches your car.

If you have any rust, look at POR-15. My car looked like they shipped it with a bar metal floor. The whole underside was covered in surface rust. I hit it with a wire brush, then coated it with two coats of POR-15 Semi Gloss Black. It looks Great!! I am proud to tell people to look under it, or to have it put on a rack now. I used 1 pint to do the whole thing, just be careful, this stuff does not come off of you for a long time. I had black dots on my arms, and a couple Black spots in my hair for a while.
They have a lot of good products, see my thread on their header coatings elsewhere, I think their website is www.por15.com

hey guys im getting ready for the winter up here in chicago and want to undercoat my car. Im in shop class at high school and im wondering how hard/long this thing would take to undercoat the bottom side of the car(floorpans, frame etc.)Also, do u have to buy their metal ready and marine clean products to prep the car before hand. if not, what cheapier ways are there to prep it. thanks

Mine was just rust, no grease or anything under it. I just went over it with a wire brush, and then painted it. I did one coat in about 1 hr. With the car on jackstands. I let it cure for 24 hrs. And did a second coat. If yours has grease on it or isn't all rusty, I would use the metal prep and marine clean. They have to be diluted so they both go a long way.
