freaky 305 tpi
I have a 92 25th 305 tpi with 5 speed. I have only put a magnaflow muffler, gutted the cat, and removed some air restriction. the previous owner has only bypassed the throttlebody coolant hose. the car runs like hell but I have problems keeping a transmission in it.....I'm on my 4th. one. I can hang with LT1's but LS1's still take me by about 2 car links and I have only been beat by a handfull of mustangs (modified). The car weighs about 3400 lb. and still has the stock 3.08 gear. I haven't ran it at the track yet so I don't know my times. I have a set of shorty headers and a custom made 3" Y pipe and a 3.55 gear that I haven't installed yet. Does anyone know why my car runs like it does? everyone I've asked and let rde with me has no idea why. And what kind of improvements would the added parts do?

Wrong forum...this is for superchargers/turbochargers/nitrous. Guido will get you squared away soon enough though.
There is such a thing as a factory freak though a 305 holding its own with LT1s with minor bolt ons is quite the stretch. Maybe its not the little 305 you think it is? Still, you need to get a time at the track. I've been in 15 second cars that felt quick and 12 second cars that didn't feel that much faster. Seat of the pants feel isn't too good an indicator especially since your car is stick.

Did I miss something? Is there a question here?
A little clarity in your statements might help you get a better response. Is there a problem with the way your engine is running, or are you simply asking what kinds of modifications would be beneficial?

I too have a 305 TPI.. and I too have problems keeping T5's alive...
I have many mods though (no internal stuff) and I run 15.1. I know, that sucks!! But hey with 192000 hard miles it is fine with me!
I have the 3:08 rear as well.
