Alternatives to engine stand?

My buddy totalled his ford POS bronco II last weekend which he has just had a shop drop a new motor in. Is their anyway to store it other then buying an engine stand and holding it fron the bellhousing bolt holes? Money is short on his end and he is going to try to sell it as soon as possible, on a scale of 1-10 how bad would it be to try to distribute the weight as best as possible and store it on its side on 2x4s?

Why don't you go visit the F*rd dealer service dept. and see if you can talk them out of a crate they got a replacement engine in on.

UVA,

2 x 4s might not get it, but 2 x 10 or 2 x 12s will work great:

Work well for Chevys, but might be a waste of good lumber under a Frod.
