How Do I Remove & Install an engine?

does anyone know where i can go to have a step by step list becides buying a book? i can't find mine, and am pulling a motor this weekend.

i am taking out a 5.7ltr, from a 82 Trans Am (not stock), and putting in another 5.7 that is bored and has high comp. pistons, balanced, and hot tanked.

if anyone has any torque specs for bolts, that would rock, also some how to or tips and tircks would rock too.

I currently have everything off of the motor in the car right now. the only thing that is keeping it connected to the car is the motor mounts and the transmission (the tranny i would like to leave in the car during the operation)

anything that could help or any links? i've tried searching google and through the boards, lots of stuff, too much maybe... but i couldnt' find what i was looking for...

Thanks to anyone
Pete

Tips and Tricks: Up at the top of your screen there is an utterly useful button called "Search".

It works wonders, give it a try some time. like "pulling engne" "installing engine" "removing engine"

It sounds like you're pretty much there....

With nothing connected to the engine except for the transmission, there isn't much left to do.

I assume you mean you don't have any hoses, wires, fuel lines, etc hooked up anymore (even the ones that are hard to get to)?

all you have left to do from the sounds of it is crawl under it and remove the 3 torque converter bolts and the motor mounts and bellhousing bolts ...make sure you place a jack under the transmission to support it when you pull the engine place a peice of plywood under the transmission pan on top of the jack to support it when the engine comes out ....you will have to pry on the engine between the tranny and the engine to get it to pull loose from the alignment pins in the block once every thing is removed and it is hooked to a engine puller and lifted slightly ...good luck

hey MikeS nice avitar..lol
