codes codes

I have posted on these codes before but with no results and searching only gave me a broad idea of what it MIGHT be but i dont know if these both could be related and the syptoms are different from what i am getting.

About a month ago all in one day i had 2 codes come up within a half an hour and each time the codes would throw my car would just go limp and run like crap this is while driving....until i pulled over and restarted it.

54. Low voltage at fuel pump OR
Low voltage at Fuel pump relay OR
Output failure at quad driver module

43. Low voltage at electronic spark timing circuit

I know the first thing to do is get a tune up but i cant quite do that yet because im trying to build a full msd ignition system and money is short. Also have noticed one cracked vaccum line that i tried to patch up until i get to autozone.

Sometime while driving and tyring to accelerate i would hear a pop as if the throttle body or intake was backfiring and even once just completely cut off all power to my car. The only thing that i did there was install a open element and had to take off the gold ring around the throttle body to make it fit.

Even trying to do brake stands which i dont even do anymore because i just spent a lot on getting them fixed ....2500 rpms and it just bogs and dies.

Codes havent came up at all lately but still have the clicking/backfiring only once in a while.

Also after backing up sometime the idle just drops and the car dies which i think might be the vaccum line.

Also hard and very very weak start ups...maybe the altenator not giving me enough power giving me low voltage and causing the codes?? Could anything else cause both of those codes??

I know withought the tune up its hard to diagnose this problem and im just throwing suggestions or ideas out there but i really need help with this so any help or educated guesses would really be appreciated!!!

You really should grab yourself a Howell Developments manual, or a Helms manual. They can guide you step by step through the diagnostics, and prevent you from replacing parts or sensors, injectors etc. IMO these books are a must with an EFI equipped vehicle.

Yea, Haynes doesnt really show much, except for basic maintenence IMHO. Helms did have a sale on their manuals about a month ago. I picked one up for like 36.95 total. Give them a try...

While you're waiting for that manual to arrive, check the voltage at the GAGE fuse, the fusible links, and the power terminal on the FP relay. You might also want to check the fuseholder for the FP/ECM fuse under the hood. Any marginal connections at those points can cause problems. You might also want to verify a good ground for the ECM harness at the rear of th eRH head/intake bolt.

I don't think timing is his problem, Brutal. Just kidding. I would definately get out the volt meter and start checking voltage at the pump. Maybe a bad ground or dirty connection is causing the voltage drop. I had a lumina with the same code and the relay was the cause. I do not recommend parts swapping though. I would definately try to find a new or used Helms at a nice price. No manual out there compares to helms. Sometimes they sell dirt cheap on e-bay as well.
