LT1 Camshaft, 305 TPI
I may be putting an LT1 cam in my 305 TPI, along w/ a ported/siameesed base. My car currently runs 9.5 in the 1/8th mile. Anybody wanna guess what gains/losses I might encounter after the swap? I do have chip burning capabilites. Other mods in my sig.

Isn't a stock LT1 camshaft kind of small for your 305 ? As I recall the lift numbers aren't much higher then a stock L98 cam. I'm sure it'll be a little better than a stock 305 cam, but I would say you should gain 10-20 HP from it.

I don't know, that LG4 cam is the worst damn thing around. Worse than the peanut cam. I think he should see a bit more than 10-20HP. Aren't you putting the siamesed manifold on there too. I'd think you could get about half a second in the 1/4 from those two mods since the LG4 cam sucks so much.

GMT,
New87 installed a "B" car LT1 can in his 3053 and cut some time from his ET. He may have details.

There's no way the cam won't be worth at least the amount they dropped going from the 202/207 cam to the peanut. That was 25hp. What's the specs on the Lt1 cam, it is an improvement over the better TPI cam IIRC? I'm guessing a 30ish hp gain from the cam, plus a bit from the base. I think the roughly half second in the quarter gain like someone else mentioned seems about right.

I,m running a 96 LT1 cam in my 89 L98.I havent had it to the track yet,but it was definately an improvement. When I rebuilt the engine I also hogged the snot out of the L98 heads, installed 2 valve relief pistons(which bumped the c/r up to 9.75 to 1),1.6 roller tips, ported the base, runners, and plenum,SLP headers, and a Hughes 2500 stall tourque converter. The lift on the L98 cam were .415/.430 and the lift on the LT1 cam with 1.6 rockers is roughly .477/.490,which I would consider to be a decent upgrade for my daily driven GTA. Hope that helps
