Is it possible to change a...

Is it possible to change a gas tank's filler neck without dropping the tank? My car (92 Formula 5.7L) has a bad joint between the tank, and neck.
I know there was a recall for it but when I called two dealers they wouldn't honor it. When I called Pontiac directly, they said there was a recall but when they ran my VIN the said it was not for my specific car. So I'm stuck doing it myself. I've dropped the tank on a previous bird and it was a pain so I'd like to avoid it.
If it's not possible, than is there a filler, of some sort that I can coat the edges with in order to fix it?

no you cannot change the filler neck. it is part of the gas tank and the tank must be dropped to fix it....on my GTA i always had a gas smell when driving and when i swapped pumps i noticed a slight crack where the filler neck meets the tank so i put a nice coating of JB weld around the cracked area and havent smelled gas since almost a year ago

I picked up some JB weld today, and I'll try it out tomorrow. Thanks this will save a lot of $$$
