geardrive woes
Well, some beach!!! I just bought a new gear drive set from cloyes, part number 8-5145. It is designed for factory roller motors. Put it on, tightened the cam bolts, and it wouldn't move. This was with all of the rocker arms loose. After investigating, I noticed it was up against the two bolts that hold the cam retaining plate to the block. I may just take the geardrive back and get a replacement. If that doesn't work, I'm going to be pissed. Have any of you run into similar problems installing geardrive? Do you have any suggestions? Also, before you start preaching about geardrive and knock sensors, I'll take my chances. Thanks for your help guys.

Search
I've searched for a couple days now, but haven't found anything even related. Just about knock sensors. Quite frankly, I don't know what else to search for. I've tried everything I can think of.

It's not just about a gear drive but any timing sprocket hitting the bolts. Hope these help.

thanks
thanks for the links to those topics. I didn't know they had the same problem with timing chains. I don't understand though. The wrong retaining plate wouldn't even bolt to the block, correct? Thanks again.
