my intake was leaking, so i took it off filled the china wall with gasket maker, and put a bolt back in and it wouldnt thread, i took it out and there was piece of metal in the bolt.
so im guess its ****ed, is my best bet to re-tap it?

Use a helicoil kit. Drill out the damaged threads to the size printed on the package, tap it with the included tap, thread in the helicoil with the included tool.
You may be able to just clean up the threads with a chaser and get the bolt to seat. If the threads in the head are damaged then you will need to helicoil it as mentioned above. EDIT: Make sure you didn't just gum it up with the sealant.
