Battery Wont Stay Charged
The other day driving my power wire to the alternator got pulled into my pully system and cut in halve. So for a quick fix i stripped the wire and taped it together. Today i went to go fix it with a crimp, and started the car up. That battery would not charge back up with the car running, after awhile teh car would died. I first took the battery and alternator to O'Rielys for testing and both came out fine, so it has to be the wiring. Both my positive cable to the alternator are hot, but the only wire i am currious about is the second wire to the alternator plug on top.
There is the red on and then a blackish colored one, is that a ground or a wire going to the tach inside the car.
Thanks everyone, and sorry so long...thanks

when it got pulled did it get grounded out. some of the insulation may have gotten melted and it may be grounding out on the chassis somewhere or arching. generally that would cause hot wires and you have to watch because it will fry your bat and alt. and can even catch on fire.

Not quite certain which wire was cut, but a few of the alt wires have fusible links on them. You may have simply popped a link. Key on/engine off and run a meter from ground to the appropriate alt terminals to check for an open link.

Well guys i finally figured out what it was. The wire that got cut was the red positive wire that cuts in front of the motor and then back to the alt. When the wire got pulled into the belt system, it basicly ranked out the mounting post on the alternator where the wire connects, was causing a low/no charge to the battery. Luckly i have a L.T.W. on the alt and it was replaced, so now the car is running like the bat out of hell it is.
