"Fusible Link" to battery - pic attached

I'm in the process of relocating my battery to the rear well of the car. I'm installing a dist. block in the engine compartment for the starter, alternator etc...and I'm trying to figure out what the significance of the connector is in the pic below. it has 1 wire coming into it from the wiring harness then the wire comes out the other side of the connector into the "fusible link" of the alternator wire that goes to the battery, then goes into the connector again and out to a small 20amp fuse attached to the fender. I'm confused on how to wire up the distribution block with this connector and how it's attached to the alternator wire.

Thanks,
- Joel

On my '87 harness, the wire with the fuse inline is an ECM fuse, and the other wire is power to the relay for the electric fans.

I'm mainly wondering if the black connector is just that...simply only a connector and nothing else. If so, then I will just need to hook the 2 wires (that come from the connector and run to the "fusible link" at the battery/alternator cable) to a 12V battery source and I can delete the black connector from the line.

Does that sound right?

Thanks,
- Joel

I had one of those apart once, 86TPI, and it was just a connector covered in that black plastic.

Do you mean the large rectangular 2 piece weathertite connector (with 2 wires going in and 2 wires coming out) or the cylindrical plastic piece wrapped around the alternator power cable with the 2 wires going to it?

The cylinder.
The other one is just a typical weatherpack connector.

Thank you!
I can just delete the weatherpack connector now and solder those 2 wires directly to the new alternator cable.

Thanks,
- Joel
