weird problem ???
Decided to take my 89 GTA 350tpi for a spin after 3 weeks of sitting in the garage. But when i put my foot onto the gas the car struggles to move, sometimes even backfires and it does this at idle and at all tempertures.
I checked for codes but nothing came up. I found if I slowly lean the power on its fine, but when I plant it to the floor it surges, struggles, and carrys on.
The ignition coil is 2 months old and the distributer is 18 months old. Is it possible to be one of these two at fault or should I be looking at something else,,,,,,,,
Any help would be greatly appreciated,,,,,starting to get a little frustrated !!

Blak,
I also have a 350 TPI, but in an 87 IROC. I had a very similer problem after my car sat. It was doing the exact same thing. Now I doubt that you will find this as your problem but it couldn't hurt to check. While my car was immobile, my brother "borrowed" a fuse from my fuse block that happenned to be one of my fuel injector fuses. When I replaced the fuse the car ran great, no more problems. Hope this actually helps. Good luck.

There are still quite a few things to check before you can narrow this down. I would start with fuel delivery. Find a fuel pressure gauge and check your fuel pressure, at idle and when your problem occurs. Water in the gas can be a problem as well. Most people prep the car to sit by putting a fuel stabilizer in it. The fuel can break down over time. You can try a can of Heet from the parts store and see if that helps.
