Does anyone ever wish our cars had powertrains like the 79-93 Mustang?

Seriously,
True duals
8.8 inch rear end
Manuals that can handle power (at least easy Tremec swap)
Fuel systems that are not crammed into the center of the car
Don't get me wrong I think Mustangs are kinda ugly but damn Ford had the powertrain figured right. Even if the 5.0L was a bit small at least it had a 4 inch bore.
What I can't figure out is why the aftermarket has stepped up to Mustang so much more agressively than Camaro?
Oh well just ranting,

i only like mustangs made in the 60's but im bias. I would rather have a 350/9-bolt combo over a 302/8.8in. anyday

I feel the same way!!!! but the worst part is it will take us third gen guy's twice the $money$ to build a car as the ford crowd. but hey it's just money I have a tree in the backyard that drops 100 dollar bills every fall. I started my third gen project to blow the doors off fords.

fox bodies are great cars, and they go fast with little mods (and as said, these mods are usually much cheaper then ours!)
there is soo many sick fast and gorgeous 87-93's around my area I just had to be different.. but I'm still the slow guy out on the roads.., for now!

stock tubular headers, stock forged pistons, MAF injection after '87, such that NO tuning was needed for mods... A 302 that will keep up with a 350, $ for $.... Want me to go on? If they didn't look so dumb, I probably would have went for one. But they're too high off the ground, and not long enough.
I've never driven one actually, come to think of it... Not as good as it sounds?

Ive driven a few foxbodys, none that were tricked out just stockers.
I didnt mind the ride/handling. But i would go for it moreso for the looks. A foxbody decked out in cobra trim is the next best thing to a camaro!

Car: '89 IROC Z
Engine: TPI 305
Transmission: T-5
I bought a brand new red '90 LX nothcback 5.0L Mustang in 1991. The car was by far, the worst car I ever owned. The thing rode as hard as a rock, handling was horrible, squeaks and rattles with only 5,000 miles on it, the stock Goodyear Gaterbacks were an absolute nightmare in the rain,...the list goes on and on. I couldn't stand the car any longer and sold it at a substantial loss after only 6 months and bought my used '89 Iroc Z in 1992 and still have it today. The '90 Mustang was a little quicker, but, the '89 Iroc rides great, handles better, is much more comfortable, gets better mileage and sounds better. I would never go back to a Mustang.

Dude, Ford sucks!
If you are poor, and not going to get any women anyway, than go with the foxbody! When you beat the GM boys by a nose, you will have something to brag to your cat about when you get back home to mom's basement. Otherwise, my 90 Cavalier was just as sporty looking as the stang, better ergonomics, and a much better ride, period.

You get what you pay for. yes our cars are more expensive, buy that has 2 advantages. 1 there are less of us so we are more special, not so boring, and you really have something unique if you drop 10-12 k in your car. 2 you will get a much better car in the long run. a fox body never has and never will hit 300mph.
