cleaned the engine... now running rough
I sprayed the engine yesterday with engine cleaner then washed it off with the hose... I dried as much off as i could with a towel and then let it sit over night. This morning i reconected the battery and started the car... let it idle for 15 min and then tried driving it. At first the car was having trouble shifting to the next gear... the engine would cut out right before it would shift... and it would die at around 38mph. After driving it a little while i was able to get it up to 45 mph and it wouldnt die and the cutting out right before the shifting stopped. But Now it just randomly cuts out while im driving and will occationally die when its stopped. It seems like theres not enough fuel getting through. Sooo water went somewhere it wasnt supposed to... I need help!

You probably have condensation under your distributor cap. Could also be wet plug wire connections.

Re: cleaned the engine... now running rough
i took the dist. cap off and its all dry under there. I took the car out again and it drove and accelerated perfectly until it hit 34mph then it started cutting out again. When im driving i can throw it into neutral and rev it as high as i want and there is no problem, just when its in drive. There has to be some sensor or something of the sort that isnt working... ?

Re: cleaned the engine... now running rough
this morning the car started up then immediately died. I restarted it and gave it a little gas and the car ran great up past 50 mph... but then after15 min of driving it i parked it and turned the engine off for 5 min.... Turned it back on and it was idling like crazy... the rpms were shooting up to 2000 and then back down to 500(500 is normal). Then the car kept surging while i was driving it... but never cut out or anything. The problem seems to be getting better... but i dont think its gonna fully go away without some help. What are yalls ideas?

Disconnect all of the electrical connectors and dry them out.

Make sure that your dist. and al the connections are dry specially with an MSD box. I had the same problem with my 400 hp Integra. The MSD 6 BTM got wet when I wash the engine and the car will run for a few and them will start missing and then cut off and will not start for a long wile.
