Boost or Cubes?

I have the chance to trade my blown 350 for a warmed over BB 454. I don't know what heads are on the BB but it has 9.6:1 hyper pistons and Eagle H-beam rods. A NIB Eagle crank and Fed Mogul bearings come with it. I told the guy with the BB that I would NEED a roller cam. I don't wanna mess with flat tappet. So far it sounds like he's going for it.

Here's a pic of my current setup. Would it be worth pulling the blown 350 for a BB? I've never owned/driven a BB car so I would like opinions on what to do.

I don't necessarily go for fastest track times. I like the best combo of power and streetability which is why the blower has been so fun. Whatcha think?

Hi,

Upgrade and rebuild the SB.
Having put a potent BB in a 2nd gen F-body your going
to run into some issues.

Handling-bye bye without major front suspension work.
Clearance-tite.
Cooling- Marginal even with good stuff on the street.
Exhaust- Problem on SB, let alone BB.
BB Aluminum heads-WP-ect help some, but $$.

Race car cool, but you said street.
Been there, done that.

Re: Boost or Cubes?

Personally I like the small block. I think you have an awesome start, and you could always build a big inch small block (eg. 406" 427" 454"....). Especially for the price of a set of big block aluminuim heads and a roller cam conversion kit.

But I would see merit in the big block. Lots of room for more cubes and huge canted valves. Something no small block can easily have.

Plus I'm not big on Eagle parts. I wouldn't see much value in them. Also be picky on the heads. Stay away from eighties heads if possible as the ports are somewhat comprimised.
