Re: Car wont start!

Do you hear a click or anything? I very rough test to see if you battery is ok is to turn on your bright lights and honk the horn. If your horn sounds normal, you probably have a decent charge on the battery

You should also check your cables to make sure there are no loose connections.

nah i dont hear anything except the steering wheel unlocking when it locks up. my lights do work when i turn them on so my battery is definetly okay, and i replaced the connecting bolts on the cables since they were loose, but that didnt make any difference

Re: Car wont start!

Could be the ignition switch. Not the key tumbler the electrical switch down the column.

OK here is what you need to check, but this will require that check some voltages. Are you up for it?

Get a DVM - place one lead on engine ground and the other test lead on the S terminal of the starter. Starter will have two studs - a big one - it will have battery voltage at all times! The second one will be a smaller stud - that's the solenoid stud. Have some one turn ignition key to cranking position - if there is 12 volts when ign key is in cranking position - you should see +12 volts at the solenoid stud. If there is 12 volts - it is most likely starter replacement time. If there is no 12 volts you'll have to troubleshoot back to ignition key, p/n switch, VATS (if equipped) and fuses.

Report you findings
