Re: white smoke?
could be quite a few things.. but first thing check your radiator.. i bet its close to empty or is empty. 2nd check your oil. water will show up in the oil. green tint to the oil = bad...
could be an intake /head gasket or even a cracked head.

Check that stuff and then pull out a compression tester and go to town. The poor performance part is what's leading me to believe that it's more than likely a head gasket.

Re: white smoke?
Isn't it great when car problem stories start like this? "hey baby, why don't we go.... aww crap!! I swear, this has never happened before!" hhaha. Kinda kills the mood.
Yea, i'd be inclined to think head gasket. If your oil looks like chocolate milk, that's a dead giveaway. And/or the coolant has oil in it.
Could have cracked the head or something, but lets stick with what's more likely. Head gaskets don't usually just "go" though. Any work done recently?
