I have a 90 Firebird with cruise control. The car at this point is a parts car. The cruise is a box next to the canister with a cable going into it from the carb and a clip with 8 or 9 wires which I guess goes through the firewall. When the car ran 2 months ago the cruise worked perfectly.

I have an 87 Firebird with the older servo next to the canister with 2 hoses, the cable and a wired clip. Until a few weeks ago the cruise worked perfectly until one of the nipples broke and now the small vacuum hose won't stay on.

So, instead of buying another servo and sticking with the older style cruise, is it possible to take the cruise from the 90 and use it on the 87? They both have the same controls at the column. Has anyone done this before? What is involved?

I figure I can pull the 87 5 wire clip from the servo through the firewall to the switch at the brake pedal out. Also pull out the vacuum that runs along with it, it won't be needed anymore. Pull the switch at the pedal. Pull the cable from the servo to the carb (cables are a bit different). Pull the control module from under the map pouch. Then I can replace the cable, switch, cruise control box and the module.

Am I right? Is that all that is required? If so would I also need to swap the cable from the switch to the module?
