my t5 wont go in
i just got my new clutch the other day its a zoom mf1675 clutch. i was trying to put it in yesterday well i got the clutch and everything bolted to the flywheel and i put the bellhousing on wtih the transmission off it. well when i tryed to put the transmission in i couldnt get it in so i took the bellhousing off and bolted it to the transmission and when i get it up in there like it seems all lined up but its got a 1/4inch gap between motor and bell housing. any suggestions on what might be wrong. i may on wednesday just take my motor out and bolt it to the transmission out of the car and throw it in all in one time.

Bolt the bell housing to the engine first, then install the transmission.
Did you use a clutch alignment tool when you installed the clutch to the flywheel?

yea i was thinkin about the pilot bushing but i tried to get the one that i think is messed up out with a pilot bushing puller but the puller just slips off. i think when i hammerd the pilot bushing in i messed it up a lil. but the clutch line up tool will go in the pilot bushing.

Yooooo dude, I had the same issue when I put in my new engine.
If you got someone else helping you I really suggest getting someone to manually turn the crankshaft with the bolt in the middle of the pulley... I'm pretty sure that the spines aren't lining up.

If he's getting it within a 1/4 inch, then the splines are lining up just fine. I really think there's an issue with the pilot bushing. I had trouble getting the muncie back into my brother's 'Vette, exact same deal. I was getting it within 1/4 inch but wouldn't go any farther. It turned out the pilot bushing wasn't in all the way.
So did you replace it or not? Your last post is a little confusing. Did you try to remove and replace but couldn't get it out and left it?

see what i did was i put a new pilot bushing in before i tried puttin my tranny in the first time. i used a bigger socket and a hammer to beat it in. i dont think i got it in all the way because i was not sure how far its supposed to go in. i didnt wanna hit it in so far that i cant get it back out. and i also think i may have messed up the hole a lil bit but maybe not cause the line up tool goes right in. how far is the pilot bushing supposed to go in?

You're supposed to drive the pilot bushing in until the edge of the bushing is flush with the top of the hole in the crankshaft. Once you make sure the bushing is in there correctly, the only other thing that would stop the trans from going all the way in is not having the clutch disc centered properly. If you don't feel like undoing the pressure plate to try and line up the disc again, there is a trick. When you're under the car and you've got the input shaft of the trans through the splines in the clutch disc, have a helper push the clutch pedal down, and then just wiggle the trans around while pushing forward. It'll eventually line up and slide all the way in. I did this once when I had already put the clutch together and accidentally pushed the pedal down before I had the trans back in. Make sure that pilot bushing is in there right before worrying about anything else though.

thanks, but i dont even have the slave cylinder on the bracket yet. is the throwout bearing fork supposed to move around so easy? like if you slip the hanger thing all the way over that ball it doesnt line up? i hope you know what im talking about. you think i should hook all my clutch stuff up and try it that way?
