Ran into a little problem

Well I got my heads put back on. Torqued them all down to where they are supposed to be with no problems. After getting a Edelbrock Performer 2101 intake I ran into some problems with some vacuum hook up or something I don't know. Anyways took it back to schucks and they said that it wasn't even the right one.

Even though it will still work so they said they would give me a #2701 instead and that will work even called Edelbrock and they said that is the one I should use.

Did the exchange went home placed the intake where it was supposed to go to see how much higher it was going to be with my q-jet the stock carb. I guess. And guess what the intake is a square bore not a spread bore. So now I need to either go back and get the #2101 or just buy a adapter to for the #2701 which will make my carb sit about 3/4 inch higher.

I am confused and don't know what to do, I am trying to get this D*** thing running again. Is there really a difference between the #2101 and #2701?

Also if I go with the Performer EPS or whatever its called I will have to do something to my hood to make my carb and air cleaner fit.

Re: Ran into a little problem

Your p[roblem is the numbers. The correct one is the 3701, NOT the 2701.

Re: Ran into a little problem

What the difference between the 2701 and 3701 other then one is only square bore and the other is spread bore/square bore and EGR? DO I need the 3701 or can I still run the 2701 if I buy a adapter plate for my carb?

You're better off getting the spreadbore intake than using an adapter.

Now what about the EGR? I don't know what that stuff is about I know what it does. So I need the EGR model?

Re: Ran into a little problem

If you want to keep a working EGR system, you need an intake with EGR.

Re: Ran into a little problem

Ok took the other intake back for the second time and ordered the #3701. Now just waiting on a guy to find a vavle spring compressor kit to do my Vavle seals then try and find out where everything goes back together and it will be done. If it was only that simple.

Thanks for all the replys and helping me out since I have so little knowledge on this stuff. I think I have done a decent job so far. especially for being my first time doing any major engine tear down.

Oh and I bought a Chiltons Manual today also I have already used it quit a bit so far. A good investment.
