Posi/Limited Slip conversion suggestions?.. 1983 Camaro Z28
I have an 83 z28 with an open rear end and 3.73 gears in it right now. I really want posi/limited slip (same thing I believe) and I was curious as to if anyone on here has ever done this conversion.. (I'm sure someone has..)
Anyhow, I'm looking for any suggestions or links to parts for this.. Please keep in mind, I'm not looking to dump huuuge amounts of money into this (no entirely new rear axle/assembly) and I'd like to stay with 3.73s.

Powertrax has a good one that you can get from summit. If you want to put slicks, and some real horsepower to it, then it won't last long. For a Good street 350 you should be good though. That's almost $500 though. The 4th gen axles with disc brakes and posi can be had for $500-600 if you look around.

So the stock diffs are that bad? because that is ultimately what I plan to do; some drag racing, and I know the first step is a decent differential. Particularly one that makes BOTH tires spin. Haha..

The 10-bolt with good axles and a good posi can handle around 500 hp at best. The 12-bolt would be much better for drag. With good axles and posi I have seen them hold 800 rwhp on an ls1.
For drag.... moser axles, c-clip eliminator (a must if running fast), and a good posi with appropriate gearing. A good auburn locker or if it's drag only you can run a spool.
I know the stock 10-bolt isn't the strongest. I went through on with a 305. With a powertrax locker and stock axles, I can get my car to hook good without issues, and that's with 426 hp at the crank.
