anyone know stock cam specs
like the title says, does anyone know the specs for the stock cams which came in thirdgens? i know there are several different engines, not exactly sure which codes but they should all have relatively similar lift/duration. i think.

There's a link off the homepage that lists all the different cams with specs for these cars.

Re: anyone know stock cam specs
so when they sell a cam and give you the lift specs, its assuming 1.5 rockers? i guess then the "aftermarket" .477 lift cam which came with my longblock really isnt much of a change. Guess we'll have to change it up come spring.
p.s. thanks for the link, i appreciate it. i cant navigate forums for the life of me.

Re: anyone know stock cam specs
The only aftermarket 0.477" cam I can think of is the COMP Cams XE268H-10, and that is quite a departure from stock. It's about as wild as you would want to go for your first cam upgrade.
Try it before swapping it. With good heads, intake, headers, etc., it should pull hard to 6000 rpm. I know from experience that even the L69 cam goes dead just above 5500 rpm.

I found the pic of the cam i took, it says EDEL then 840341 and then randomly 210.

Stock specs = tiny by small... or put another way: Almost perfectly round.

Re: anyone know stock cam specs
well, according to the link that was posted, the stock cam's had over .400 lift. which isnt that far off from the aftermarket .477 cam, so they couldn't be perfectly round. unless they don't actually have that much lift...

However, your stock cam isn't listed. The only ones listed in that tech article are the "better" factory cams.
Regardless, going from .413" lift to .477" lift is a pretty big change. But, duration is more important.
I'd guess that your cam is an Edelbrock cam, which is basically a restamped off-the-self grind. The "210" is probably supposed to be "2102" or "2103" but the person doing the restamping got the end of the stamp over the center hole. Those are Performer cams, and don't have anywhere near .477" lift.
But, that's just a guess.

This is the first time i've built an engine (im only 19) so i'm now doing my homework when it comes to valvetrain and getting everything to work together (optimize). I take it this cam is pretty mild then? any thoughts?
My engine is actually a 1969 block, so i don't know what the original cam specs were, but regardless i'm comparing it to an early thirdgen cam. i guess the two are pretty similar? i'm trying to go for something a little more agressive. I know you're supposed to pick the intake last, but i want to keep my air-gap so i'm going to try to get my cam/heads to work with it instead. I'm aiming to get max power around 5500rpm.
sigh. I knew the previous seller would lie to me. I'm going to measure the cam when i go back home for the winter break, just to make sure.
