getting started....

I just bought an auto 91 Camaro with a 305 tbi, and I’m trying to decide what direction to take. I want to either get a wrecked donor car with an LS2 and 6 speed tranny that i can put in and turbo charge, or start from the ground up with a carbureted supercharged big block. I want to go aggressive but still be a street car. I’m looking for mainly a cost/power/difficulty comparison. Thanks for the input!

Re: getting started....

Not trying to sound like a smart-alic but if your on a budget, if you wanted an LS2 or super charged big block car (more specificaly an LS2 car) you more than likely should have bought one from the start. Unless you get lucky, I doubt you'll find a cheap one.Best bet is year one, tho its not an LS2 or a BB, they have a 400+ hp 350 for around $3000+ shipping, thats a hard deal to beat! And if anyone says they can build one cheaper with all new parts and a warrenty, I'd have to call B.S. on that one............

Re: getting started....

why dont you just build a 383 small block. the parts are cheaper then the lsx parts. and if you dont care for smog, driveabilty, gas mailage, you can damm near make a race engine with just the summit racing or jegs catalog

Re: getting started....

You could do the whole 383 thing if you would like. But sounds like your budget is pretty big. So I would look around junk yards and find a 454 and build it into a monster 496. You would be king of the street/strip.
